The day on the war

Russia conducted a large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine overnight into Saturday, November 7, primarily targeting Kyiv and its surrounding region. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported extensive damage to energy facilities in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions, leading to severe disruptions in the capital's electricity, heating, and water supply systems.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia fired 36 ballistic missiles at Kyiv and the surrounding region, alongside 172 drones over Kyiv and 12 other regions. Ukraine's Air Force claimed to have intercepted 149 drones and four ballistic missiles.

At least six people were injured in Kyiv, and a kindergarten building in the Solomyanskyi district was destroyed. Russia's Ministry of Defense confirmed the strikes, stating targets included the Northern Bridge, an industrial facility producing Flamingo missiles, a power station, and an ammunition plant in the Kyiv region.

The attacks occurred just days before confirmed trilateral peace talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, November 10, in Abu Dhabi. Zelenskyy suggested the strikes were Russia's way of 'preparing' for these diplomatic discussions.
