Russian authorities reported a large-scale drone attack targeting the Moscow region overnight on August 18. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that over 600 drones were detected heading toward the region, with more than 180 intercepted over the capital area.
Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov also reported drone activity and damage at several locations. Several people were reportedly injured, including a 10-year-old girl who suffered a shrapnel wound to her arm in the Ramenskoye district.
A warehouse belonging to the e-commerce company Wildberries in the Bogorodsky district reportedly caught fire, though the company indicated the blaze was contained and no goods were damaged. Other residential and commercial properties were also reported to have sustained damage.
Russian state media characterized the incident as one of the largest drone attacks against Moscow and its surrounding region in two years. Ukrainian authorities have not directly claimed responsibility for the attack.
