Russia and Ukraine conducted large-scale overnight strikes on Saturday, August 16, targeting industrial, port, and military-linked facilities across several regions. In Ukraine, Russian missile and drone attacks hit Kyiv, sparking fires in at least two districts and injuring three people, according to Kyiv authorities.
Russian strikes also hit two industrial sites in Kryvyi Rig, killing one woman and wounding six, and a wheat-carrying vessel in Odesa, killing one and injuring three. Attacks in Kharkiv, including one on a train station, reportedly killed at least five and injured several more.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously stated on Saturday that Flamingo cruise missiles struck a Russian military airfield in the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Progress rocket center in the Samara region, which supports Russia's nascent satellite internet network. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine claimed Russia lost 1,510 troops and significant equipment over the past 24 hours.
