The day on the war

Russia launched a wave of missile and drone attacks across Ukraine on Saturday, July 12, resulting in at least eight fatalities and dozens of injuries. In Sumy, two glide bombs struck a crowded area, killing five people and injuring 30.

Another ten individuals were wounded by glide bombs in Zaporizhzhia, while a missile strike on Odesa killed two and wounded one. Kyiv also sustained Russian missile and drone attacks, with the injury toll rising to 12, including two children.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia launched over 120 drones and 12 missiles, half of which were ballistic, with civilian infrastructure hit before air raid alerts were issued. Zelenskyy called for renewed diplomatic efforts to ensure allies fulfill arms supply agreements more promptly, emphasizing the critical need for air defense munitions. Separately, Ukraine's drone forces reported striking 21 fuel tanker vessels and seven other ships in the Sea of Azov overnight, bringing their total vessel strikes this week to 76.
