Ukraine targets Russian logistics infrastructure; Moscow claims downing hundreds of drones
Kyiv reports hitting bridges and a warehouse, while Moscow says over 400 drones were intercepted, including 46 near the capital.
The day on the war
Ukrainian forces conducted a series of strikes on Russian military logistics and infrastructure on June 29, according to the Ukrainian General Staff. These attacks reportedly damaged a road bridge near occupied Novoazovsk in Donetsk Oblast and two railway bridges in occupied Luhansk Oblast, alongside a Russian logistics warehouse near Novosvitlivka in Luhansk Oblast.
Meanwhile, Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed its air defense units downed or destroyed at least 419 Ukrainian drones overnight into June 30. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin specified that 46 of these drones were intercepted while flying towards the capital.
In response to ongoing drone threats, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov stated on June 30 that Russia plans to integrate artificial intelligence-assisted decision-making into its air defense system by November. Ukrainian Air Force Spokesperson Colonel Yuriy Ihnat also reported on June 29 that Russia is increasingly prioritizing strikes on frontline oblasts, using ballistic missiles and over 20 drones against these areas on the night of June 28-29.
