Australia Women Face Bangladesh in Historic First ODI of Bilateral Series
The three-match ODI series, marking Bangladesh's inaugural bilateral tour of Australia, commenced today at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
The story
The Australian Women's team is hosting Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series, a historic occasion as it marks Bangladesh's first bilateral tour of Australia for ODIs. The first One-Day International is underway today, October 9, at Allan Border Field in Brisbane, with Australia winning the toss and electing to bowl first.
This series is part of the ICC Women's Championship. Australia, currently the top-ranked team in women's ODI cricket, will be led by Tahlia McGrath in the absence of regular captain Sophie Molineux due to a hip injury.
Bangladesh, captained by Nigar Sultana Joty, will be looking to make an impact on this tour, having recently included uncapped pace-bowling all-rounders Disha Biswas and Habiba Islam in their squad. Australia previously defeated Bangladesh 3-0 in a T20I series earlier this year in Bangladesh.
