Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma's half-centuries propelled India to a commanding total as they vie for the Asian Games men's cricket gold medal.
The story
At the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, India's men's cricket team set a formidable target of 212 runs against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asian Games T20I final. After India skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bat, openers Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma laid a strong foundation. Sharma led the charge with 61 runs, while Varma contributed a rapid 51 off 21 balls, featuring two sixes, guiding India to 211/6 in their allotted 20 overs. For Pakistan, Ahmed Daniyal and Arafat Minhas were the pick of the bowlers, each claiming two wickets.
Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka secured the bronze medal in the men's T20I event by defeating Bangladesh by 63 runs. Meanwhile, attention also turns to New Chandigarh, where India is scheduled to play West Indies in the third and final One Day International of their bilateral series today. India has already clinched the series with an unassailable 2-0 lead and will be looking for a clean sweep.
