Pant, Jurel Fifties Propel India to Commanding Position on Day 2 Against Sri Lanka

Day 2 of the second Test between Sri Lanka and India at the Sinhalese Sports Club saw India extend their dominance, largely thanks to a significant partnership between Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel. Resuming the day at 300 for five, India lost Saransh Jain early. However, Rishabh Pant, who had retired hurt on Day 1, returned to the crease to join Dhruv Jurel. The duo then stitched together a vital 112-run stand, frustrating the Sri Lankan bowlers.

Both Pant and Jurel reached their half-centuries, with Jurel marking his fifty with a trademark 'cheeky salute'. At lunch, India had reached 419 for six, with Pant on 63 not out off 88 balls and Jurel unbeaten on 59 off 107 balls. Pant showcased aggressive batting just before the break, hitting a four and a six in the final over of the session. Shortly after lunch, Pant was dismissed, but India remained in a strong position.
