The story

At the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, Day 3 of the second Test between West Indies and Sri Lanka saw a determined fightback from the hosts. After Sri Lanka declared their first innings at a commanding 549/9, West Indies found themselves in trouble at 144/4.

However, Shai Hope, returning from a shoulder injury, and Justin Greaves stitched together an unbeaten 174-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Hope finished the day on a patient 86 not out, reaching his half-century from 90 balls, while Greaves was equally watchful, scoring 85 not out off 85 balls.

Their resilient stand ensured West Indies ended the day at 318/4, still trailing by 231 runs, with the follow-on target of 350 still in sight. Sri Lankan captain Dhananjaya de Silva utilized various bowling options, but the Barbadian duo successfully blunted the attack, prioritizing wicket preservation.
