The story

India secured a seven-wicket victory over Afghanistan in a rain-curtailed first One-Day International at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala. The match was reduced to 25 overs per side due to persistent rain.

Afghanistan, batting first after India won the toss, posted 194 all out in 24.5 overs, largely thanks to a blistering century from opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who smashed 102 runs off just 51 balls. Indian debutants Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey impressed with the ball, each taking three wickets.

In response, India, chasing a revised target of 195, reached it comfortably in 22.5 overs. Captain Shubman Gill led the chase with an unbeaten 84 runs off 66 balls, while KL Rahul provided a crucial cameo of 39 not out off 19 deliveries to seal the win. Gill was named Player of the Match for his captain's knock.
